Lenny Ignelzi- Lenny is the staff photographer for the San Diego Bureau of the Associated Press. I have worked for him for the past 7 years as a stringer, signing a freelance contract in 1998. I have the capability to scan and transmit images on location via FTP. The timeliness of journalism was a point strongly reinforced during my time working there. Though a stringers assignments mainly consist of sporting events for that bureau, I was exposed to a journalism element with the regular national political events and stories concerning the international border and Mexico.
John McDonough- I work as John's lighting technician and remote camera assistant for Sports Illustrated. John's work is focused on basketball for much of the year. For the past 6 years I have traveled covering basketball games with him in the NBA and NCAA, football in the NFL, including three Super Bowls, and golf in the PGA. I have also been able to work on numerous portraits of famous athletes on location for the same amount of time. My experiences of events are seasoned with the continual challenges associated with logistics, travel, and deadlines for such a major publication.
Andy Hayt- As a San Diego based national photographer Andy would need lighting assistance for portraits of players for the NBA and commercial clients. With a background in studio assisting that is usually multiple set-ups in a day, working with him gave me the chance to concentrate on details such as lighting effects and composition of portraiture. In addition to portrait work, I have lit buildings with strobe systems for the NBA in cities that Andy regularly shoots in. I also worked for him as a photographer for the San Diego Padres for the 1997 and 1998 season.
Marguerite Schropp- As an associate picture editor for Sports Illustrated Marguerite has worked with me assigning jobs for the past 5 years. Her duties at the magazines revolve mostly around the NBA covering day to day game action assignments and portraits of players.
